As the Ten continue on their journey, God led them to Steinkopf, a small town in Namakwaland, the Northern Cape, near the border with Namibia, close to the Namibian Desert. A town in the middle of nowhere with almost no internet and hardly any shops. Few jobs and lots of alcohol and drugs. But still, the people were open, as everywhere in South-Africa. Hot during the day, cold during the night, and lots of wind from the surrounding valleys. The sunrise was beautiful. The Ten stayed at Auntie Molly, a woman from the United Reformed Church, in small rooms with lots of people. Fun. Fellowship.
In Steinkopf the Ten had to go freestyle as there was no contact that had set up any events. Connections had to be made. Relationships had to be built. So, the Ten started with lots of door-to-door- and street evangelism. Good times! Led by the Spirit they built relationships, made some connections, and met a lot of people: people with interesting stories, drunken people, youth playing football, kids hanging around on the street, old people, Christians, born-again Christians, Muslims, etc. There was such diversity for being such a small place.
And as the days went by, the Ten had some amazing opportunities. Ministry in the old-peoples-home, playing soccer with youth/kids, more door2door, biblestudies on the hill, freedom-outreach, housevisits, streetevangelism, open-air-worship, open-air-service. Freestyling.
Some amazing things happened during their time in Steinkopf. Like ‘Freedom Outreach’. Freedom Outreach means splitting up in groups, praying about what to do, and then, going out and doing what God tells you to do. And so, stepping out in faith, Jamie, Carrie, Heesung and Willem did some street worship, in a part of the town where the Ten had not yet been doing evangelism, in their first two weeks. They went there, played some music (‘We Bless Your Name’ – what an amazing song!) and ended up sharing their testimony, doing some preaching. It was amazing to see how God put this opportunity together, by speaking to them about where to go and what to do. An amazing time! God blessed them as they stepped out.
